In 2016, I had the opportunity to assume creative duties for the annual AIA / IIDA Cleveland Design Awards. These duties included designing the event’s printed invite and commemorative program book.
As the Cleveland branches of these non-profit organizations, The American Institute of Architects and The International Interior Designer Association combine efforts every year to organize the Cleveland Design Awards to recognize the accomplishments within their respective industries.
While exploring inspiration for the project, I was immediately drawn to the presence of the event’s venue - the newly built Hilton Downtown Cleveland. Considering my targeted audience, I knew a nod to the latest addition to Cleveland’s skyline would be greatly appreciated.
All aspects of the event’s identity, from the color palette, to the signature die-cut angle, were ultimately directly informed by the venue’s unique characteristics.
